How to Connect and Configure BYO Wi-Fi Router

This guide explains how to configure and connect a BYO Wi-Fi router. BYO Wi‑Fi router availability varies; contact Superloop Smart Communities Support to confirm whether your site allows BYO routers.

Personal Routers

In buildings where Superloop provides a full mesh Wi‑Fi service, a strong wireless network is already available. Because of this, personal routers may not be necessary and, in some locations, may interfere with the performance of the shared network.

To maintain a stable and consistent service for all residents, some buildings do not permit personal routers. In those cases, we may disable such devices to ensure network quality for everyone.

If Your Location Supports Personal Routers

If your building allows the use of personal routers, please follow the steps below for correct setup.

1. Physical Connection

Wall port → Router WAN port
Use an Ethernet cable. Use the WAN port, not a LAN port.
The WAN port is usually colour‑coded and will automatically get an IP from the Superloop network.
If it doesn’t, check the router’s manual.

2. Device Connection

Connect to the router’s Wi‑Fi network or plug your device into any LAN port.

3. Router Configuration

Use these settings:

Connection Type: Dynamic IP
IP Assignment: Automatic (DHCP)
Login Required: No
Do not select PPPoE/PPPoA

Troubleshooting

If your router does not work after setup:

Open a browser and sign in to the portal to register your router to your account.
Try restarting or performing a factory reset on the router and configure it again.
For additional help, use your router’s instruction manual or contact the manufacturer.
