Disable MAC Randomisation - iOS

Apple has introduced a new private MAC address feature for iPhone and iPad when connecting to Public Wi-Fi networks starting in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.

Apple has introduced a new feature for iPhone and iPad when connecting to Public Wi-Fi networks starting in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.

Most of the time, you won’t notice a problem with private Wi-Fi addresses. This option is enabled by default and will “just work.” Occasionally there might be some problems with connecting or authenticating.

If you’re ever having trouble connecting to or accessing the internet on a Wi-Fi network, disabling Private Address will resolve connection or authentication.

How to Disable Private Address

1. Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad

2. Select Wi-Fi on your iPhone or iPad

3. Locate the name of the Wi-Fi network at the top of the screen. Tap the “i” icon on the right side of the Wi-Fi network name.

4. Disable the “Private Address / Private WLAN Address” option by swiping the switch to the left.

5. You’ll be prompted to rejoin the network if you’re already connected. Tap “Rejoin” and your iPhone or iPad will rejoin with its normal MAC address.
