Run ping test on Windows

Collect network packet information from a Windows device

 

Overview

 

Ping measures the time it takes for packets to be sent from the local host to a destination computer and back. The Ping tool measures and records the round-trip time of the packet and any losses along the way.

 

Run ping test using the Command Prompt

 

1. Click the Start button and type CMD into the search box.

2. CMD or Command Prompt will be shown in the menu. Right-click, and select Run as Administrator.

3. Select 'Yes' on the security confirmation message to continue.

4. A black window will open. This is the Windows Command Prompt.

In the command prompt, you will need to type the following commands one at a time and then press Enter:

ping -n 30<website address>(e.g. facebook.com, google.com, etc.)
