Changing your Private MAC Settings for Managed Wi-Fi

We recommend disabling Private MAC address or setting it to static before you connect to our Wi-Fi network for a smoother experience.

What Is a Private MAC Address?

A Private MAC (often called Randomised Hardware Address or Private Wi-Fi Address) is a privacy feature that aims to prevent tracking by automatically disguising your hardware address. Most modern devices have this enabled by default.

When to turn it off?

We recommend disabling Private MAC address before you connect to your preferred Wi-Fi network.

With Private MAC enabled, users will need to sign into the Wi-Fi and managed their account more often - usually every 2 weeks when the Private MAC "rotates" and changes.

Note: You may need to add your device again after you have disabled Private MAC if you've connected with Private MAC enabled your known devices on your account.

Here’s how to turn off Private MAC Address (also known as Randomised MAC Addressing) on common devices including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

  2. Select Network & Internet and then Wi-Fi
  3. Find Random hardware address and select Off

  1. Click the Apple menu and open System Settings
  2. Select Wi-Fi from the sidebar

  2. Tap Network & Internet Wi-Fi
