Having trouble seeing the Wi-Fi portal page?

Connecting to the Student Accommodation Wi‑Fi is designed to be quick and straightforward. In most situations, the Wi‑Fi portal page (also known as a captive portal) will appear automatically so you can sign in.
If the page doesn’t appear right away, your device may still be connected to the Wi‑Fi signal but waiting for authentication. The good news is that this can usually be resolved with a few simple steps. This guide walks you through reliable ways to bring up the portal and restore full internet access.

1. Refresh the Connection

A quick reset often prompts the portal to display.

  • Turn your device’s Wi‑Fi off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  • In your Wi‑Fi settings, choose “Forget This Network,” then reconnect.
This creates a fresh connection and frequently triggers the login screen.

2. Manually Trigger the Portal Redirect

If the portal doesn’t appear automatically, you can prompt it through your browser.

  • Open a web browser and visit neverssl.com.
This page is designed to allow the network to redirect you to the login screen.

iOS: Manually Trigger the Captive Portal

  1. Open Settings and select Wi‑Fi.
  2. Find your active Wi‑Fi network at the top of the list.
  3. Look for a Log In prompt under the network name.
    • If you do not see it, tap the information (“i”) icon to reveal the option.
  4. Tap Log In to open the captive portal and complete authentication.

macOS: Manually Trigger the Captive Portal

  1. Open System Settings and select Wi‑Fi from the sidebar.
  2. Locate your active Wi‑Fi network at the top of the list.
  3. Look for a Log In… button next to the network name.
    • If it’s not visible, click Details… to find the login option.
  4. Select Log In to reopen the captive portal window.

3. Disable Connection Interruption Tools

Some settings and tools can delay the login page from appearing. Temporarily adjusting these can help the portal load as expected.

  • VPN: Turn off any active VPNs. These can override the network redirect.
  • Browser Mode: Use a standard browser window instead of Incognito or Private mode.
  • DNS Settings: Make sure your device is set to Configure DNS Automatically.

These adjustments help ensure the network can correctly present the login page.

4. Manually Add Your Device to Your Account

Some devices such as gaming consoles, smart TVs, and certain IoT devices do not support captive portal pages. These still connect successfully when added manually to your account - refer Managing Your Devices: How to add your Device to your Account
